Barclays Premier League

BT Sport has today announced the live Barclays Premier League games it will show in February, which include four of the current top five teams as well as Manchester United.

The matches include the league leaders Arsenal taking on both Liverpool and Manchester United. The high profile clash at the Emirates between current Premier League leaders Arsenal and Manchester United is on Wednesday February 12. Ten days later BT Sport brings viewers the fixture between Jose Mourinho’s title chasing Chelsea and Roberto Martinez’s fifth placed Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Everton’s Merseyside rivals Liverpool mouthwatering match against high flying Arsenal is on Saturday February 8 at Anfield.

NBA

British sports fans will be able to watch multiplatform coverage of the NBA (National Basketball Association) after BT Sport and the NBA reached an agreement for exclusively live television coverage of top NBA games and programming in the UK and Ireland.

The new agreement will see up to 200 games throughout the season, appearing across BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN. There will be up to seven live games per week throughout the regular season and the first and second rounds of the Playoffs, as well as every game of the Conference Finals, culminating in the NBA Finals in June. Coverage will include weekly games on Sundays in primetime.

One of the highlights of BT Sport’s coverage will be NBA All-Star, which takes place every year in February at the midway point of the NBA season. A global celebration of basketball, NBA All-Star consists of a variety of basketball events and competitions, including the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and Three-Point Contest, culminating in the NBA All-Star Game. The All-Star Game pits the league's star players from the Eastern Conference against their counterparts from the Western Conference.

Also included in the partnership will be several magazine shows:
  • NBA Action combines weekly highlights and news
  • NBA Inside Stuff will provide fans with a unique insight into the lives of NBA stars both on and off the court
  • NBA Tonight, provides an overview of the NBA through interviews and analysis and NBA Countdown, the live game build up show before selected games.

UEFA Champions & Europa Leagues

BT Sport will be the new UK home of UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League football, following a tender process in which BT won the exclusive live broadcast rights to all 350 matches from both tournaments. The rights run for three seasons from 2015/16. This is the first time a single UK broadcaster has won the exclusive live rights to all matches from both tournaments. 

BT Sport will show a selection of these new matches for free on BT Sport, even to homes that have not signed up to the channels. Fans will also be delighted to know that each participating British team will feature for free at least once each season.

Barclays Premier League

BT Sport kicks off 2014 on New Year’s Day with the already announced double header of Southampton against Chelsea at 3pm followed by Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur at 5.30pm.

This is followed by a lunchtime kick off on January 18 with Sunderland v Southampton, both managed by South Americans in the shape of Sunderland’s Gus Poyet and Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino.

BT Sport’s live Barclays Premier League games in January will include the second of this season’s Merseyside derbies from Anfield on the evening of Tuesday January 28.

The following day, BT Sport brings viewers a mouth-watering match between title hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on Wednesday January 29.

FA Cup

BT Sport has announced its first live FA Cup First Round fixture as it begins to broadcast the world’s oldest domestic cup competition for the first time.

AFC Wimbledon entertain Coventry City at the Kingsmeadow Stadium. The Dons, who only formed in 2002, have enjoyed a rapid rise with five promotions in nine seasons, are now managed by former Wimbledon FC favourite, Neal Ardley.

For League One side Coventry City, FA Cup Winners in 1987 after memorably beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-2, it has been a turbulent season having moved their home ground from the Ricoh Arena to Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium.

Scottish Premiership

The four top teams at present in the Scottish Premiership - Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Motherwell – will all feature on BT Sport over December.

BT Sport will showcase three clashes between the top four teams with league leaders Celtic facing tough away matches at both Inverness CT and Motherwell. Inverness CT will be particularly keen to gain revenge having been denied a famous win at Celtic Park earlier this season when Adam Matthews equalised for Celtic in the 82nd minute.

Terry Butcher’s men also face a stern test when they play Aberdeen at home on December 21.

Conference Premier

BT Sport has announced four more exclusively live matches from the Skrill Conference Premier, including big matches on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
  1. Grimsby Town host high-flying Kidderminster Harriers on Thursday, December 19, kick off 7.45pm. A home win would keep the Mariners in the promotion play-off places. 
  2. Leaders Cambridge United are at home to Braintree Town, kicking off at noon on Boxing Day. 
  3. On December 28, BT Sport concentrates on the bottom end of the table as fellow strugglers Hereford United and eco-club Forest Green Rovers battle to pull well clear of the relegation zone in a game at Edgar Street.
  4. On New Year’s Day at noon, BT Sport has exclusively live coverage from Kenilworth Road as Luton play host to Edgar Davids’ Barnet.

Barclays Premier League

BT Sport has scored some of the highest quality Barclays Premier League ties including double header feasts of football on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

BT Sport will show three games between teams currently challenging for the title, Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City v Arsenal and Manchester City v Liverpool.

And for the first time, BT Sport will be able to offer back to back double headers. On Boxing Day, viewers can enjoy West Ham United v Arsenal at 3pm, followed by Manchester City v Liverpool, kicking off at 5.30pm.

On New Year’s Day, fans can nurse their hangovers by tucking into the double delight of Southampton v Chelsea at 3pm and then Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur at 5.30pm.

Premiership Rugby

BT Sport will revolutionise the way Aviva Premiership rugby is broadcast with a series of ground-breaking new innovations to be unveiled for the forthcoming season.

BT Sport's innovations include:
  • Cameras in dressing rooms 
  • Introduction of kicking tee camera and lineout cam 
  • Pre-match pitch walk, featuring interviews with players 
  • In-match interviews with directors of rugby 
  • Half-time player interviews 

Kick-off times will remain largely constant throughout the new campaign with a typical weekend of action featuring three live games:
  1. Friday at 7.45pm
  2. Saturday at 3.15pm 
  3. Sunday at 2pm

BT Sport will also screen a midweek rugby show – Rugby Tonight – from 8pm-10pm each Wednesday evening, plus two live matches from the French Top 14 every week.

World Club 7

Premiership Rugby confirms that BT Sport will screen the World Club 7s live from Twickenham on 17 & 18 August. The ground-breaking tournament brings together, for the first time, some of the biggest names in club and provincial rugby from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, together with some of the emerging names in the 7s game.

BT Sport will broadcast three hours live on Saturday followed by five and a half hours on Sunday.

FA Cup

BT Sport have enhanced their football coverage after securing a four-year shared rights deal to become home to The FA Cup from 2014-2018.

The most romantic club competition in world football will be shown on BT Sport for the next five years after the broadcaster retained the rights in a joint bid with the BBC.

Up to 25 exclusively live FA Cup matches will be shown on BT Sport from 2014 including the final, which will be shared with the BBC. The deal also includes the FA Community Shield and FA Trophy.

Barclays Premier League

The top London derby clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea is just one of the many unmissable Barclays Premier League football games to be shown by BT Sport in the first third of the season.

BT Sport will also show one of the most famous Premier League rivalries, as Everton play host to Liverpool in the celebrated Merseyside derby.

In addition, BT Sport has chosen Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester United at White Hart Lane.

And Arsenal fans will only have to wait until the second week of the season to enjoy a potentially tricky away game at Fulham.

Scottish Premiership

BT Sport will start its coverage of the Scottish Professional Football League top tier on August 2 with the Friday evening match between newly-promoted Partick Thistle and Dundee United.

This is followed by the clash between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie on August 17.

BT Sport will also show last season’s SPFL top flight runners up Motherwell against Kilmarnock.

A-League

BT Sport has signed the rights to show top tier football matches from Australia. Football fans will be able to follow Alessandro Del Piero, Michael Bridges and Terry McFlynn in the A-League.

Conference Premier

The Football Conference and BT Sport have agreed a two-year deal for the new channels to show 30 live matches a season from the Conference Premier.

BT Sport will host live broadcasts from the grounds for 25 league matches, plus both legs of the play-off semis and the Promotion Final at Wembley, from the start of the 2013-14 season in August.

FA Womens Super League

BT Sport has acquired the rights for the FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL), the England Women’s Senior Team and The FA Women’s Cup. In addition, BT Sport will exclusively broadcast The FA WSL live matches across the season.

The FA WSL, which currently consists of eight national club teams competing in an elite summer league, will be expanding from 2014 to include 18 clubs competing across FAWSL1 and FAWSL2. The new two-tier structure will allow for promotion and relegation between the leagues, which will improve league status and increase professionalism.

MotoGP

Dorna Sports announced today a five-year agreement with BT Sport for the exclusive broadcast rights to the FIM MotoGP World Championship, starting from the 2014 season, to be shown across all its platforms in the UK and Ireland.

MotoGP fans won’t miss a minute of the action as race weekends will be covered in full starting from the free practices on the Friday and including full coverage of Moto2 and Moto3 as well as the elite category MotoGP. 

The MotoGP line-up will be further enhanced by additional motorcycle-related programming in between Grand Prix weekends. BT Vision and YouView viewers will be able to catch up on any live action they miss as BT Sport will make the programming available on demand, on television and on digital.

ESPN

BT Sport and ESPN announced today that they have agreed that BT Sport will acquire ESPN UK and Ireland.

The transaction is expected to complete on July 31, 2013 after which BT Sport will continue to operate at least one ESPN-branded channel which is expected to form part of the BT Sport TV package that will be launched by BT this summer.

The deal will enable BT Sport customers to see live coverage of
  • the FA Cup for the 2013/14 season
  • the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League until the end of the 2016/17 season
  • a further ten Rangers games in the Scottish Professional Football League third tier during the season
  • the UEFA Europa League  through to the end of the 2014/15 season
  • German Bundesliga through to the end of the 2014/15 season

Additionally, the deal will allow BT Sport to continue to show a host of US sports currently shown on ESPN America, including:
  • NCAA College Basketball
  • NCAA College Football 
  • NASCAR

WTA

BT Sport has signed a deal with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) to show as much as 800 hours per year of live tennis featuring the best women players in the world, including the season-ending showpiece TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships.

BT Sport will show live matches from 21 WTA tournaments across the globe.

The announcement coincides with an upturn in fortunes for British women’s tennis, with two British players, Laura Robson and Heather Watson, both ranked in the WTA Top-50 for the first time since July 1987. Watson became the first British woman since 1988 to win a WTA title when she triumphed in the HP Japan Women’s Open in Osaka last October. The following month, Robson, who won Olympic silver at the London 2012 mixed doubles alongside Andy Murray, was voted the WTA Newcomer of the Year for 2012.

The BT Sport deal is for four years and includes the five elite WTA tournaments – Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Beijing and Istanbul. During the 2013 season, the rights will be held jointly with previous holder Eurosport, but from 2014 will be exclusively owned by BT Sport.
